We believe in working with our customers to help make cost savings, improve efficiency but also to create a brighter future. By switching to a 100% EV (electric car or van), you can say goodbye to petrol, diesel and annual road tax bills; they’re better for the environment producing zero emissions, have lower maintenance costs, are quieter and with government incentives are often on a par price wise with their comparable petrol or diesel model.
SAVE MONEY, BE GREEN, BE FUTUREPROOF
Driving electric vehicles has many benefits: they accelerate quicker than their petrol or diesel counterparts, are far less expensive to maintain (approximately 70% cheaper) and some of the new breed of 100% electric cars can drive over 200-300 miles on a single charge.
There are presently around 160,000 drivers of electric cars and 5,500 electric vans in the UK alone, which we expect to rise to over a million drivers by 2022!
EV’s are being released by all the major car manufacturers; meaning you can now choose from a wide range of 100% electric and plug-in hybrid cars that utilise the latest technology. This will only increase, as more emphasis is placed on greener alternatives.
SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER RUNNING COSTS
The government has introduced a grant, which reduces the “on the road” cost of new, eligible 100% electric cars by £4,500, plug-in hybrid cars by £2,500, with up to £8,000 off the price of a new electric van. In many cases, this brings the price of electric cars and vans in-line with their comparable petrol and diesel models.
You could also save around £650 a year in tax and fuel, compared to a petrol or diesel model. With maintenance costs also around 70% less over a car’s lifetime, when it comes to your finances, going electric is the bright choice.
The average petrol or diesel car costs around 12p per mile – which means that dependent on the specific electric vehicle you choose, you can easily reduce this cost by 75%. These significantly lower running costs will save you thousands of pounds throughout your period of car ownership.
CUTTING-EDGE CHARGING TECHNOLOGY
There are around 17,000 charge points across the UK; some are free and some charge a small fee. Many people don’t realise that you can install your own charging station at home or at your business. Simply plug in the cable to charge and unplug the cable to drive! It is so quick, easy and cost-effective. Most EV’s have ranges of 200-300 miles, so you may only need to use other charging points to supplement long journeys.
You can charge a car straight from the mains but it takes between 6-9 hours, puts strain on your power supply and poses a fire risk. It is a safer, easier and more efficient long-term solution to install a specifically-designed electric vehicle charger, which will charge your vehicle up to 2.5x faster than with a 3-pin plug. Home chargers are just as quick as public charging points, there’s no having to wait for one to become available and can charge an electric vehicle from flat to full in only 3.5 hours; also reducing energy bills.
The cost of home charging varies depending on your specific tariff (and, if on Economy 7, the time of day). An average electricity rate is 10p per kWh, meaning your car could cost as little as 2p per mile. Making an estimated £1000 fuel savings a year, depending on your car make and model!
GOVERNMENT GRANTS FOR HOME EV CHARGING
There is an even greater incentive to purchase a home electrical vehicle charging unit at the minute, with a government grant of up to £500 towards the cost of installation.
To qualify for the government grant, you need to be the registered keeper, lessee or have primary use of an eligible electric vehicle, with dedicated off-street parking. If you don’t have a driveway or garage, you can still get help for a charge post on your street.
To encourage commuters and businesses to also use and purchase electric vehicles, the Workplace Charging Scheme also enables any business, charity or public authority to claim a grant of up to £500 per charging socket; towards the cost of installing EV charge points, providing they have dedicated off-street parking for staff.
AT HOME OR AT WORK
Whether you are considering installing an EV charging point at home or at work, our highly skilled team will source the most suitable system for your individual requirements. We can also advise developers on their most efficient and suitable set-up as, increasingly, planning authorities are requiring developers to include charging points for a percentage of parking spaces in new Retail, Residential and Commercial Developments.
EXPERT TEAM. IMPARTIAL ADVICE. SOUND INVESTMENTS
An electric vehicle driver’s home electricity consumption will be higher than a typical home, dependent on your vehicle type and usage. Due to this, we recommend investing in a Smart Energy Meter, giving accurate real-time usage readings which we can also install. The Bright Sparks team provide total energy solutions; one of our highly-trained team will source the best solution for your needs, install the charge point at your home and be on hand with expert advice including assisting you with sourcing the cheapest energy tariff for your requirements.
At Bright Spark’s, we are committed to distributing and raising awareness of environmentally friendly technologies, that encourage the use of renewable energy, improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions to mitigate against global warming. We highly recommend considering implementing solar power. Not only will you see lucrative cost savings (cutting your electricity bills in half) but you’ll also be guarding against increasing energy bills and working towards a greener future. Please don’t hesitate to contact our expert team for further information on this.
