A COST-SAVING EXAMPLE OF UPGRADING TO ENERGY SAVING LED LIGHTING
The Bright Sparks Team:
- Removed and replaced all existing shop floor lighting with a light adjusting LED system.
- Replaced all lighting in the rest-room, kitchen, offices, reception area and stairways.
- Provided LED security lighting with timers and movement sensors to the perimeter of building.
The fully fitted cost including testing & certification would be £21,729 Plus VAT.
The annual projected running cost saving is £6,715!
The saving was calculated using our unique Clearview calculator based on current usage times and the known running cost of the existing fittings. We also took into consideration the fact that the warehouse lighting will benefit from being fitted with occupancy and daylight sensors.
Grants are available to assist SME’s with funding for qualifying energy saving measures. From our discussions with our customer we identified that they would qualify for a grant which would provide funding for 15% of the cost of the project (to a maximum payment of £5,000).
Payback time is estimated and varies dependent on usage factors; especially daylight use. For the illustration below we have assumed a lower saving per annum than the projected figure of £6,715 above of £4,000.
- Fitted Cost net of VAT £21,729.00
- Grant Contribution £3,269.35
- Cost £18,469.65
- Payback time 4 years 6 months
This figure does not take in to consideration the cost of maintaining existing equipment over the period. The projected figure is some 20% more conservative than when using the Clearview calculator which would bring the breakeven point down to just under 3 years!
Lease Purchase Options
We offer lease purchase options from several companies for energy saving installation such as lighting and renewable technology projects; enabling companies to let the annual fuel savings pay the monthly cost of funding the project.
Calculations are based on a successful grant application with the overall cost less the grant.
There are several options available, such as using the amount of grant as a deposit and having little or no upfront payment.
The calculation below is based on one of our provider’s calculators for indicative purposes. We work with each customer, consider their unique requirements and then select the best rate from our panel of providers.
3-year lease, with a deposit of 20% = £633.90 per month.
5-year lease, with a deposit of 20% = £415.69 per month.
